It comes as no surprise that the Jurassic Park films were not the most scientifically accurate.
(They said I had bad vision! I have 20/20 vision, thank you very much! 😤)
And a lot of us, the Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Ankylosaurus, were actually from the Cretaceous period, not the Jurassic. That’s when dinosaurs like the Stegosaurus and Allosaurus were around. And contrary to popular belief, not all us dinosaurs lived at the same time!
But I think the most jarring mistake was the “Velociraptors.” Our friend Nony (he’s a Deinonychus) was VERY offended by this portrayal.
The star of the show, the Velociraptor named Blue, was actually based on Deinonychus. But the producers thought Deinonychus didn’t sound cool enough, so they renamed them to Velociraptors. Now, real velociraptors did exist, but they were much much MUCH smaller than the ones in the movies. About the size of a poodle. 🐩
And of course, the biggest elephant in the room: Our skin. Many of us had feathers! Yet in the films, we were all portrayed as these scaly, terrifying monsters :(
BUTTT even with all its scientific inaccuracies, I have to admit, Jurassic Park did a very good job getting humans interested in us dinosaurs! I for one, think it's sooo cool I got to star in one of the biggest Hollywood films! Maybe I should become an actor….
Do you think Jurassic Park should've been more accurate? Or do you think the DRAMAA is more important?
Anyways, that's it for today!
